It is very important to know our rights..jus read this..

Hi All,
Following is a mail circulated by the Pune Police.
It states about a Law which we really didn't know till date.
I just want 2 share this with you... Because many people forget to respect females as well as each other many times.
An incident took place in Pune - a young girl was raped by a man posing as a plain clothes officer; he asked her to come to the police station when she and her male friend didn't have a driver's license to show. He sent the boy off to get his license and asked the girl to accompany himto the police station. Took her instead to an isolated area where the horrendous crime was committed.
The law which most are not aware, clearly states that between 6 pm and 6 am, a woman has the right to REFUSE to go to the Police Station, even if an arrest warrant has been issued against her. It is a procedural issue that a woman can be arrested between 6 pm and 6 am, ONLY if she is arrested by a woman officer and taken to an ALL WOMEN police station. And if she is arrested by a male officer, it has to be proven that a woman officer was on duty at the time of arrest.

Please share this info with the girls u know also with boys.. coz this can help them protect their wives, friends, and sisters.
It is good for us to know our rights. To what extent it comes of use remains to be seen in any situation. But as they say, knowledge is power...

Let me clarify the above comment of mine as Mr.sridhar (the blogger) was upset after reading that and thought that I am anti-Indian(refer to his response on my comments in the chak de review post which might create the same impression if u misinterpret my words here). The above comment was the response of a frustrated and disappointed Indian (who very much loves his country) after reading that a girl was raped by a police whose job is to protect people and it was not intended to hurt the writer of the post “know your rights”. I have been reading similar incidents these days where a teacher was caught making her students involve in prostitution, a 50 year old man in Bihar raped his minor daughter and so on. That led me to abuse all those BUNCH of barbarians. I truly mean it when I called you a responsible citizen and the words “My dear” were really out of liking and sympathy towards the efforts of a guy who posted a serious Notice in his blog to spread the message and save women from such mishaps again.
