Is Indian Captaincy really a burden?

I aint a former Indian cricket captain nor a cricket player or not even a cricket commentator to answer this question. As a normal cricket lover, I really dont understand why theres always a buzz on indian captaincy. This happens only in India, the players who play pretty well as an individual fails to deliver the same performance as a team captain. Whats happening to him? wheres the problem lying? Is this happening with all the teams across the world? All these unsolved questions are well answered by former Indian captains who've failed miserably as a captain though they've a wonderful record as a team player. The only successful captain in my view is Sourav Ganguly, He has captained india for almost 3 years if I am not wrong. During that period, he has emerged as the aggressive captain in world. Later, he was dropped from the team as a result of poor performance as a team player. He has given more victories to Indian cricket team than any other captain in the past. But being a successful captain, he was not able to deliver his own game. Whats the problem with Sourav Ganguly? Also let me take Our great Sachin Tendulkar, He has always been a god for Indian cricket fans. But he failed terribly as a captain. What happend with Sachin? Let me make myself clear at this point, I am neither praising Sourav nor blaming Sachin. I am just trying to explain what has happened in the past. After Ganguly's exit from the team, Our Mr.Dependable has been selected as India's future Leader. He was a good and successful captain as far as I know based on Indian Team's performance. There has been a huge buzz about Dravid resigning as the Indian captain and about the person who can fill dravid's shoes. But Why did Dravid Quit after India's good performance over England though we failed to win the ODI Series. After returning INDIA all were happy about India's domination on ENGLAND both in tests and ODI's. But suddenly, I saw the news about Dravid resigning. None would have ever thought about this. What situations actually made dravid to resign unconditionally. When asked about this, Dravid Said "I wasn't enjoying batting due to captaincy pressure." There are many international team captains who have actually led their teams successfully. But we see only INDIAN captains say they couldn't handle much pressure so they step down no matter what happens to team. We dont see the same scenario with other teams. There are many captains who have led their teams into success in much more pressure. Why? From where does this pressure come? The past is past, now the INDIAN team has to be led by MS Dhoni who has just 3 years of ODI experience. I am not saying that this young fellow can not lead team INDIA which has both young stars and senior players. But in my view, Dhoni is not enjoying his captaincy in the current twenty 20 world cup. He hasnt played his so called smashing innings so far even when india is in trouble, may be he is thinking that hes a captain and he should not throw his wicket unnecessarily. Anyways, Dhoni is leading INDIA in the upcoming home series against Australia and Pakistan. We all wish him All The BEST. Who knows dhoni can emerge as the best captain INDIA has ever had. :)

After the series against Aus and PAK our news papers head lines will be "Dhoni resigns as
INDIAN Captain says he wasnt enjoying his batting and keeping. He couldnt handle the stress. So he steps Down"..just kidding.:)

NO..captaincy is not a burden,it is a responsibility. This responsibility is given to a player when he is ready to handle it. Ricky ponting still gives a captain's knock. Dravid, even after he gave up the captaincy is miserably out of form. Even the media never grilled Dravid like it did to Ganguly(when he was out of the team). The sympathy and the confidence was always with Dravid. Even Dhoni is enjoying the Indian captaincy. So the actual reason mightve been something beyond the captaincy issue which dravid didnt feel like revealing. Therefore he gave this not-so-convincing reason and gave it back.
